Back to School

My five-year-old will be starting Kindergarten in 3.5 weeks. Can I stress to you how unprepared I am for this milestone?
William with his little toofers and big ole forehead smiling for his momma!
William on his last day of preschool.

I am unprepared to have him gone for 6.5 hours a day. I am unprepared for him to get dropped off at school and run in to his classroom all by himself. I am really unprepared to let go of my baby is what it comes down to.

He has blossomed and grown so much this summer. He has become independent and extremely socially. Two characteristics that will for sure help him in K. He loves making new friends (preferably blonde girls) and loves making others laugh.

But this mommy loves her first born with such fierceness that I can't even get my head around him starting elementary school. My little man still loves to hold my hand in public and give me lots of kisses and hugs. His dad and I are the center of his universe and I guess I don't want those things to change.

So as we begin this new chapter of his academic career may I remain calm, positive and as least psycho as I can be! Giving up so much control of his life to Kindergarten teachers is a lot for me, but I must trust in them and trust that my William will grow and flourish in his new learning environment!

Getting My Tan On!

Pale...White...Casper...the list could go on and on, I am Irish and I don't tan very well.

I will never forget when I was going out for my bachelorette party and I told my bridesmaids that I had been tanning for a month and one of them laughed and said she couldn't believe it because I was still pretty pale. {sigh}

I refuse to go to tanning salons anymore for obvious health risks so I have experimented with some store bought remedies!

Tanning towels give you a great tan but the streaks are horrendous. Last summer I tried a brand of tanning lotion by Neutrogena and again, streaks and uneven coloring!

So I decided to try one more brand, Jergens Natural Glow....and guess what? I LOVE IT! OMG! It looks natural and it doesn't fade after a day! The lotion is white and smells nice (not too strong) and has a great consistency.

I applied some on Thursday and decided to apply some more tonight (Sunday) for just a bit more color. Again, no streaks and it looks natural! I am so happy! No more scary white legs around these parts!

Oh, everyone sells it (I bought mine at Wal-Mart for about $8.00) and a little goes a long way!

* This is not a paid endorsement...just love the product and wanted to share! =)

Thirfty Thursday

Yes, ladies and gents it is that time again! To hear about a fabulous find of mine! Today I will show you what .75 cents got me at a garage sale.

I actually walked past these bad boys (three of them!) and came back to them...I would of had total buyers remorse if I passed them up.

I love old vintage things in my kitchen and that is where I thought they would end up but I decided that they would be perfect to hold craft supplies. I plan to get my craft on this summer with my two boys so this will work out perfectly! I am storing them in our laundry room which is right off of our kitchen and family room! (ignore the clutter, the room can never stay clean!)

What fabulous finds did you snag this week?

Zumba, Zumba!

So, I am going to totally ignore the fact that I haven't blogged since last summer and move right along...

My dear sister-in-law tried for almost a year to get me to go to Zumba with her and I flat refused. I thought to myself, no way can I ever exercise for an hour without passing out and looking like a loser.

On New Year's Day (this year) there was a perfect storm. I was in a good mood (surrounded by family and food in front of me), it was New Year's day and one of my resolutions was to get healthier for my boys and most importantly, I was ready to exercise and get in shape.

I had no expectations going into my first Zumba class. I heard remarkable things about our instructor and knew it was a really popular class. Luckily, my 16 year old niece came with me too. She stayed in the back with me and giggled and chuckled throughout the class. I was amazed at how well everyone knew the moves and when one of the instructors told me I would know all the routines in 7-8 classes I literally laughed out loud. Sure, I love to dance but I have never taken any organized dance classes...EVER.

So where am I now, nearly five months later? I am in LOVE with Zumba. Shockingly, I do know all the routines and I love the music, the people, the energy, the sweat and the instructors. I look forward to it, I need it and I can't imagine not going anymore. After a rough day with the boys I love to get my aggression and frustration out in the form of dance.

A friend of mine posted the below picture on Facebook and it couldn't be more true:

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog...until next time!

InstaFriday!

It's that time again! I took a couple random pics this week around my house so I thought I would post some for all of ya'll to see!

Years ago I snagged a piece of a plant at my old office and put it in water so it would root. I then planted it...and waited, and waited and seriously seven or eight years later it bloomed and looked like this!

My mom gave me my old Swatch watch a couple months ago. I remember wanting one so bad and was so excited when I got one for Christmas.

It has been SUPER hot in Ohio lately so the boys have been doing lots of playing indoors. Grant was being silly and put on some work goggles!

 Happy Friday everyone!

Thrifty Thursday!

So while I hoped to post some super duper bargain finds from somewhere besides Target, alas, I have failed!

I found the cutest pair of flats at Target for only a little over $6.00!! They will look super cute with jeans or black leggings this fall/winter.

I also am looking to buy a white desk so I can move my workspace from our kitchen island (I work from home) to a nice workspace in a central part of our downstairs.

I plan on filling these cute buckets (I bought two for .50) with pencils and misc. office supplies. Now I just have to find the perfect desk!
